Guidelines For Shopping Online

I love to shop online but I made a few mistakes while doing so, and with that being said I had to spend a total of about $100 shipping items back for a refund. Shopping online can be convenient, and fun. However, there are some things you should consider if you want to make purchases online.

Mel's Tips For Shopping Online

1. Read reviews about the company.
    • I am pretty good about searching companies that I am unfamiliar with. Find out the pros and cons of the company through customers who have purchased items from them. You will be surprised about issues people have gone through. Such as, customers never receiving their orders, being charged twice, companies sending items in the wrong size, and so forth. Resellerratings.com, is just one of the websites you can find customers' reviews.

2. Cheaper is not always better.
    • Who doesn't like to find the same item for lesser value? Regardless of what the answer is cheaper is not always better. In some cases it is better to buy something of higher value because the quality might be better. Also, the credibility of a company might be the cause for lower prices. For example, I came across two websites that sold the same shoes. Those websites had a $30 difference in pricing. The website that sold shoes for a lesser value received a lot of negative reviews from customers pertaining to their order caused by the company's error, customer service, and the quality of merchandise. In comparison of the website that sold shoes for a higher cost, customers spoke highly of them and the company offers free shipping and returns.
3. ALWAYS read the return policy.
    • While some companies allow a maximum of 10 days to have an order shipped back to them for a refund, others only offer store credit, or no refund and no exchanges. I had an experience with all three.
4. If you don't LOVE it, don't buy it.
    • I would highly suggest if an item cost more than $20 and you are unsure about it then refrain from buying it, unless you are ordering an item offline through a local store. If you are purchasing offline through a local store you can avoid shipping charges and can easily get a refund or exchange.
5. Think before you buy.
    • Never be quick to buy things offline, check to see if the item you want is available at a local store.

Thanks for reading.
